The Virtual Brain TWin Co-lab, held in Madrid in November 2024, brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including researchers, mental health professionals, and family advocates, to explore cutting-edge applications of brain simulation technologies in mental health care.

The event, organised by Blanca Beltran and Guillermo Velasco, highlighted collaborative approaches to integrating technology into patient-centered care. EUFAMI’s participation, in collaboration with Con Salud Mental, as well as key partners from AMAFE underscored the importance of family inclusion in technological advancements. Discussions revolved around ethical considerations, data privacy, and how these innovations could be used to predict, prevent, and personalise mental health interventions effectively.

The Co-lab’s outcomes included:

  • A roadmap for incorporating Virtual Brain Twin technologies into service delivery.
  • Recommendations for family involvement in research and implementation processes.
  • Establishing connections between national and international partners to foster ongoing collaboration.

The event concluded with a commitment to ensuring these technologies address real-world needs while maintaining ethical standards and inclusivity.
